They can be very shady sometimes and a lot of them are just scams. I guess some people do make money with them, but it's not the best way to earn income online. I found a great place that teaches you legit ways to earn an income without using MLM stuff. It's called the Wealthy Affiliate University. It's helped me make a full-time living online. I know of a good site that reviewed it, and will tell you more.
